Fancy hats, fascinators and delicate tableware were plentiful as Renfrew Victoria Hospital (RVH) celebrated its volunteers at a ‘high tea’ event Tuesday at the myFM Centre.
RVH recreationist Roxanne Nolan organized the event, which she described as a meaningful way to thank volunteers for their dedication, interest, talents and the valuable time they give to the hospital.
Nolan told the more than 100 helpers in attendance that whether they’re a long-time volunteer or got involved fairly recently and regardless of how many hours they give, it’s important they know what they do makes a difference.
Interim CEO and Chief Financial Officer Kimberley Harbord told the crowd their efforts have not only helped provide better care but have also brought smiles to patients and families.
Volunteers are involved in numerous ways at RVH – through community programs, the Auxiliary, the RVH Foundation, on committees and the board of directors and more.
Event goers enjoyed refreshments, tea sandwiches, scones and sweets served by nurse managers and department heads.
National Volunteer Week is April 27 to May 3.
