The driver involved in a fatal Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) crash in Laurentian Hills, in March of last year has been arrested and charged. On March 24, 2024, at approximately 12:44 a.m., police responded to a single-vehicle UTV collision on Pergeon Lake Road. Both the driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle and taken to the hospital. The 22-year-old passenger from Eganville was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the 26-year-old driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
A Canada-wide warrant was issued for the arrest of Dylan Shane Roberts, who was found and arrested in British Columbia with the help of the RCMP Fugitive Return Program. On March 5, 2025, Roberts was brought back to Ontario by the OPP’s East Region Bail Support Team and the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Crime Unit.
Roberts faces charges of dangerous operation causing death and impaired operation causing death. He was held for a bail hearing on March 6, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke. The investigation was supported by the OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) and an OPP Collision Reconstructionist.
