Royal Canadian Legion Branch 148 Renfrew President Greg Walbeck can thank his mother for his long-time involvement with the organization – she signed him up and let him know!
It was some time before he actually visited the branch and got involved but once he did, he was hooked. He began as sports officer, a role he has held for the past 35 years. He’s filled other positions over the years, including several stints at president.
He’s most proud of the way the Legion supports veterans and their families, as well as the programs that involve area youth.
Among the Legion’s most urgent needs? Donations and volunteers, says Walbeck.
He is incredibly grateful for the support of the public and hopes the Legion can continue to rely on help to keep the organization afloat.
