The Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Branch took a moment to look back on 2024 and how the year went. Heather Jobe the Community Outreach Coordinator for the Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Branch tells myFM how many animals were adopted last year.
As a non-profit, Jobe expressed how important community partnership is, throughout the year they held many fundraisers that not only help raised funds for the SPCA, but also allowed the community to take part. She highlights a few new programs that have made a huge impact in rural communities last year and cannot wait to see how it helps this year.
Another important program that the Ontario SPCA offers is their Animal Smart Program, which is all about getting youth and students involved. School officals, teachers or even students can head over to their website to submit for one of these presentations and learn more about what the SPCA does. “Animals and children go hand-and-hand, it is such a great program that allows the next generation to get involved with helping animals and even just open up that conversation,” said Jobe.
Looking ahead, the SPCA is excited to announce their Cupcake Day, taking place on February 24th – one of their biggest fundraising events of the year! Jobe explains that in the lead-up to the event, the community gets involved with local businesses hosting bake sales. There will also be a paint night, with all proceeds going to the fundraiser. Additionally, local bakeries will be creating delicious cupcakes and donating a portion of the proceeds to Cupcake Day. If you are wondering why Cupcake Day is so important, Jobe has the answer.
So make sure you get out those mixing bowls and pre-heat your oven for Cupcake Day, a fundraiser that helps animals in need. To find out more information or to donate head to Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Animal Centre – Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Animal Centre.
