Words of support continue to pour in from the community as Renfrew mourns a leader in local business.
Greg Utronki, who has run Al Utronki’s Appliance & TV for the past several years with wife Kerri-Ann, passed away suddenly earlier this week at the age of 55, but not before setting a high bar for supporting the community according to family friend Jon Pole.
Pole adds that Utronki was an incredibly easy person to talk to, whether it was purchasing an appliance or just catching up, pointing out that he never heard or saw Greg get mad with anyone outside of good hearted ribbing.
He was also remembers Utronki for his keen insight as a fellow businessman and family man, urging Pole to invest in appreciable experiences with his family.
“The Bear” Kevin Regan, a long-time friend and golfing buddy, adds that there are countless instances where Utronki lent a hand without question, whether it was at his appliance store or just as a member of the community. It’s a trait that Bear believes runs right through the Utronki family tree.
Regan has been in contact with Utronki’s remaining family, who are doing the best they can in what has been a devastating moment.
A celebration of life has been planned at the Renfrew Golf Club from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. this Friday, October 18th, and one thing that everyone can agree on is that there will be a significant overrun of stories and praise for a man who Bob Dillabough, another close friend, says is simply irreplaceable.
Dillabough and Regan both joke that they alone could fill the four hours with their own personal encounters with Utronki, including moments where Greg’s true character really shined through.
The Utronki family is asking people mourning the loss of Greg to consider making a donation to either Hospice Renfrew or the Renfrew and District Food Bank in lieu of sending flowers.
