What started as an epiphany between friends working along the Ottawa River has since blossomed into a thriving brand of beer that you find on either end of the country.
President and CEO Christopher Thompson says the idea for Whitewater Brewing began as a few idle musings around the campfire during a trip to the Grand Canyon but quickly became a serious endeavour as he and his friends began travelling to various established breweries to learn the ropes before planting their roots at an old diary farm on Fletcher Road in 2013.
The company has since grown from producing just a few kegs a week to shipping over 7,000 liters of brew per session (just over 1.2 million liters alone last year) to hundreds of LCBO’s, grocery stores, bars, and restaurants across Ontario, as well as locations in British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Newfoundland.
Thompson says the Ottawa Valley has become his backyard, and the brewery is a way for its founders to contribute to the area they live, work, and play in.
