A full day of fun on our local ball diamonds is happening just in time to celebrate the Canada Day long weekend in Renfrew.
The Town of Renfrew is hosting a three-pitch softball tournament at Ma-te-Way Park just ahead of Canada Day on Sunday, June 30th.
Programs Specialist Janyne Fraser tips her cap to Steve Madaire, a community member who’s been keen on working with the town to share his love for the game since they first got in touch on the concept last year.
Don’t strike out on a chance to play by waiting to sign up, as they’re quickly finalizing the line-up for what they’re hoping to be a 10-team tournament helping to support the Renfrew and District Food Bank.
Fraser explains that running with 10 teams will be the perfect fit for their schedule.
A $10 per entrant Home Run Derby will break up the action at noon and will feature prizes put up by Madaire and the community.
Interested teams can register and get a complete look at the house rules for the tournament through the event’s page on Facebook.
Fraser says the town is also looking for volunteers to help run the event. Email her team at Programs@Renfrew.ca if you’re willing to help.
