Ottawa OPP are confirming a fatality in this morning’s two-vehicle crash that occurred in the westbound lanes of Highway 417 near Kinburn Sideroad this morning about 930AM.
Police spokesperson Constable Michael Fathi says a vehicle crossed the centre median of the highway and struck a vehicle headed west.
Renfrew County EMS Chief Mike Nolan situates the scene.
Nolan confirms the collision claimed one life.
A young child initially reported as injured, was not hurt- but paramedics were able to keep the child together with their mother.
The identity and age of the deceased are not available for release at this time, and police cannot confirm possible charges, as their investigation continues with the assistance of an OPP Technical Collision Team.
On behalf of first responders, Chief Nolan expresses his condolences.
Both westbound and easterly lanes were closed for several hours- however traffic is now flowing in both directions.
