More than 500 alumni and guests are expected to be a part of Renfrew Collegiate Institute’s Homecoming this Saturday and organizers are gearing up for a great event.
“We’re very pleased that everybody’s coming,” said Homecoming Committee chair Lynn Clelland. “We’ve got people coming from British Columbia, from Arizona, Toronto, all over Ontario. We’re very happy.”
Clelland, a graduate of the Class of 1968 who was a teacher at RCI from 1982 to 2003, said she’s looking forward to sharing the experience of finding old friends and getting caught up on everyone’s news.
This is the first Homecoming event held since the pandemic and all RCI alumni, regardless of their graduating year, were invited to register.
The April 27 event will get underway with tours of the school (10 a.m. to noon), a meet-and-greet of staff and students at the Renfrew Wing (2-3 pm.) followed by a kitchen party (3-5 p.m.) Evening events include appetizers served by the Backyard Gourmet BBQ from 5-7 p.m., with the night wrapping up with music and dancing from 8 p.m. to midnight. The dance will feature a ‘selfie corner’ complete with props, including football jackets and other school paraphernalia.
Tickets for the dance will be available at the door.
