McNab-Braeside Mayor MacKenzie’s intended additions to the municipality’s April 16th Regular Council Meeting agenda were in part dealt with Thursday afternoon at a publicized Special Meeting, in that elected representatives will not debenture an outstanding balance of almost 3 million dollars still owing on the Township Hall.
The meeting, convened by Deputy Mayor Lori Hoddinott, saw members authorize a 3 percent increase to local taxes.
MacKenzie, who advised his peers April 1st that he was foregoing Mayoral activities until further notice, nonetheless participated by video link- but could not find a seconder to support the five percent hike he was advocating.
The Mayor has promised to clarify his positions on budgetary concerns, the accounting issues he has, and his absence as Council Chair in an interview with this newsroom Friday.
