It’s the third year that local school boards have been involved in offering an online Indigenous Speaker Series and the initiative has grown into a collaborative project bringing multiple Eastern region school boards together.
Officials say the variety of topics and featured guests offer a great opportunity to build intercultural understanding. The series runs in April and May and all events are free and open to the public.
The Renfrew County District School Board, the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board, Upper Canada District School Board, the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario and the Ottawa Catholic School Board are all involved in the initiative.
The first session, set for April 10, features Bill Montgomery, who will share the origin, meaning and importance of Haida art/culture.
