It’s a new and exciting role for a vital supporter of the seniors of Renfrew and area.
Rae Ann Dagenais, who spent the past six years as development co-ordinator at Renfrew and Area Seniors Home Support, is making a move. She’ll still be doing important work for area seniors, she’ll just be doing it in a neighbouring municipality.
Dagenais is the new program co-ordinator for Calabogie and Area Seniors’ Home Support and she’s looking forward to the new role.
And while she’s looking forward to the future, she has some great memories of the past six years and is proud of the work she’s accomplished.
She appreciated getting to know about all the great services, including friendly visiting and the much-needed transportation programs, that are available for local seniors and adults with disabilities. And she gained an appreciation for the challenges and needs of the seniors in our community.
Among the highlights for Dagenais is organizing and executing her first golf tournament, which raised just shy of $6,000. As events repeated, she competed against herself to do better each time.
And while she appreciated the challenge, COVID made fundraising a different and difficult task.
She says her position at Renfrew home support was gratifying in many ways and she hopes her successor is able to come in with fresh ideas and plenty of energy. Among her most recent successful initiatives were trivia nights and bagged lunch day fundraisers.
And what is her message for those she’s encountered along the way?
