Essential programs for seniors living in Eganville and surrounding communities have been given a big cash boost.
The Eganville and District Senior Citizens Needs Association say they are beyond thrilled to receive a contribution from the Federal Government’s Age Well at Home Initiative worth $799,896 over the next 2 years to better support seniors in their own homes.
The funds will allow the partnership between Eganville and District Seniors, the Township of Whitewater, Barry’s Bay Area Home Support, and the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan to expand existing and successful programs for rural and remote seniors.
The Association says essentials such as Meals on Wheels, Transportation, Home Safety Checks, Homemaking, and Frozen Meals are just some of the local programs that are expected to grow thanks to the Age Well at Home Initiative, as they continue to work closely with other community partners and agencies and support the services they provide within Renfrew County.
They add that the project will strongly impact seniors who want to remain at home but don’t have access to necessary services.
