The blame game surrounding the Ma-te-Way Expansion project continued at Tuesday night’s Town Council meeting.
Citing the third-party review of the project, councilor John McDonald would file a motion that could mean serious trouble for the current mayor.
McDonald would note that he believes accountability is required for the many issues the project faced and pointed out that Mayor Tom Sidney was the Chair of the Parks and Recreation Committee between 2014 and 2022.
The sizable overages and severe delays in the construction have become a hot-button issue in the community, but that evening’s discussion on the matter did not go very far.
Reeve Peter Emon would explain to people watching the meeting virtually that they couldn’t jump into the debate right then and there because of municipal procedure.
The motion will be revisited at the next regular meeting for Renfrew Town Council on Tuesday, January 30th.
Mayor Sidney accepted the motion as presented but did not provide further comment.
