Do your kids know how to stay safe when they’re home alone?
Make sure your child is ready to respond to real-world scenarios and challenges with help from the Town of Renfrew and the Canadian Red Cross with their Stay Safe! Home Alone Safety program course starting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3rd.
It’s a full-day program for kids aged 9 to 13 that’s offered by the Canadian Red Cross, which will teach applicable and age-appropriate skills while also reinforcing your child’s capacity to improve their own safety.
The course touches on the importance of responsibility and respect while being accountable for yourself and of setting and following rules around safety when staying on your own, as well as how to prepare, recognize, and respond to unexpected situations like inclement weather, strangers, or unanticipated visits. You’ll also receive some basic first-aid training.
Space is still available at $70 per child, and parents can sign their kids up right up until the class on Wednesday at the Town of Renfrew’s Parks and Recreation page.
