An in-person meeting, December 9th (at the library in Eganville), is being held by the Kitchissippi-Ottawa Valley Chapter of the Council of Canadians.
Spokesperson Ann Pohl says the agenda focuses on the group’s positive actions-
as well as positive ways to combat negative aspects present in our collective milieu.
Pohl says in the past year, Lakehead University has done significant research on how Canada’s younger demographic looks at the future.
Almost 505 of those ages 16-25 experience some aspects of despondency when considering a future- and they don’t feel any comfort in adult responses to their concerns.
She says the City of Pembroke has adopted a practise of looking at municipal projects and initiatives through a “climate lens”
That petition is currently circulating in hard copy, and online.
The Eganville meeting takes place Saturday December 9th, from 10AM to Noon at the Bonnechere Union Public Library.
It is being held in solidarity with attendees at the United Nations COP-28 climate summit in Dubai.
