Town Council has approved a number of changes to Renfrew’s organizational structure.
Among the changes is a smaller senior management team of five directors as well as a merger of the Department of Infrastructure and Public Works with the Department of Parks and Recreation.
Town staff have been tasked with immediately recruiting a director to lead the new Department of Facilities, Maintenance, and Operations.
The change will also cause ripples through the daily operations inside Town Hall, as the Engineering and Asset Management division now reports to the Director of Development, Environment, and Engineering, led by Town Planner Eric Withers.
Renfrew’s Public Library will also see some changes, as the Library and Community Services Team will now focus on economic development initiatives with a mandate to improve customer experience.
Meanwhile, Carolynn Errett will become town clerk as Victoria Charbonneau leaves the role to lead the town’s economic development and customer service portfolio.
Town staff add that the changes “are meant to position the Town of Renfrew to meet its strategic goals” and come alongside additional resources for project management, engineering, asset management, programming, and procurement.
The moves come ahead of a busy time for Renfrew, with the Parks and Recreation and Waterfront Master Plans under review and the 2024 budget expected to be tabled in November.
