After a slow start to the season, could the Renfrew Wolves be on the rebound?
A shootout win against the Hawks in Hawkesbury on Friday, October 13th, is helping them make the case that they are, as the team picked up their third win in four games played over the past week.
Renfrew would open the scoring midway through the first with help from Tal Stevenson’s first goal of the season, only for the Hawks to respond a few moments later and take a 3-1 lead part way through the third.
The Wolves would push back, with Jace Letourneau and Dane Carter bringing the game level at 3-3 heading into the end of regulation.
Overtime would solve nothing, so the game would move into the shootout, where Letourneau and Andrew Morton would seal a 4-3 win for the Wolves. Renfrew goaltender Viacheslav Gordeichuk won his fourth game of the season, stopping 30 of 33 Hawkesbury attempts on goal.
The 4-5-2 Wolves will head to Brockville for their next game this Friday, October 20th. You can catch the action live on 96.1 myFM starting at 7:30 p.m.
