The people behind the Renfrew Fair won’t have much time to celebrate another successful weekend earlier this month.
General Manager Tammy-Lyn Ferguson is crediting the hard work of the Fair’s other board members and volunteers for their smooth operation in putting on a show over the September 7th weekend that drew rave reviews from fairgoers.
It was Ferguson’s first year as general manager, and she notes that there is a lot of work behind the scenes that she never knew as just an attendee.
Ferguson tells myFM news that there was “a definite buzz” around the Renfrew Fairgrounds for the entire weekend, and she got plenty of comments about how the number of people who flocked to grandstand for Saturday’s demolition derby had not been seen in the past few years.
She adds that special guests that made their return this year, like the Truck and Tractor Pull and OPP Golden Helmets motorcycle brigade, have already expressed interest in coming back as board members convene this week to start planning for 2024.
Official attendance numbers are still being calculated, but Ferguson is confident that they saw a notable increase on both Thursday and Saturday compared to last year.
