A volleyball enthusiast and player, Tim Gilchrist joined the Ottawa Valley Vikings to share the sport with his daughters as she grew up.
They’ve since moved on, but Tim’s love of the game still burn bright as he coaches the Under-16 Valkyries.
It’s a passion that goes beyond the x’s and o’s of coaching, and one that the Vikings foster in their players by making every effort to get every kid to experience volleyball and the spectacle of all the tournaments that happen over a season.
He adds that keeping their teams engaged comes down to the preparation all of the clubs coaches do to stay “five minutes ahead” and ready to pivot when something doesn’t work.
Medals, championships, and an appearance at the national tournament have been notable highlights, and Tim considers himself lucky to be surrounded by a talented cast of athletes each year.
