The Local Immigration Partnership of Lanark and Renfrew Counties was an active participant in Arnprior’s Cultural Night Market, hosting an allyship and anti-bias workshop for interested participants on the Friday evening prior.
LIP Lanark-Renfrew’s work doesn’t stop there- it has been involved in researching an eight-point plan involving best practises for immigrant attraction and retention, based on demonstrated labour market shortages.
Spokesperson Jodi Bucholtz says the plan is adaptable to the realities of each local situation.
Labour market statistics refute the old fear that immigrants come and steal “our jobs”.
Historically, Canada’s major urban centres have been the hubs to which immigration flocked- but statistics show that is changing.
Residents are proud of the Valley lifestyle, and the more willing we are to share it, the more the region can prosper and grow.
Bucholtz says the regional plan, announced earlier this summer, is moving forward.
