Members of our community showed up and impressed with their contributions to the 96.1 myFM All Hands on Deck Food Drive.
With your help on Thursday, August 17th, we filled trucks at Chris and Tanya’s No Frills and the Renfrew Metro full of food that will keep the Renfrew and District Food Bank shelves full as they prepare for back-to-school season.
Food Bank President Mike Wright tells myFM that more than a third of the people they serve are kids, and making sure they have food for lunches and school snacks is important all year-round.
myFM was also stationed outside of the Giant Tiger in Shawville, where we took food and cash donations in support of Bouffe Pontiac. Coordinator Manon Gervias says their push for donations will continue at their Campbell’s Bay office on Monday, August 21st.
A common theme when speaking with food bank volunteers during the day was the positive impact these donations have for people in need in our community.
Wright notes that food drives like these are so important for any food bank because they ensure that they can cover more than just the staple items during busy periods like back to school and the holidays.
