There will be swimming lessons offered at Burnstown Beach this summer.
Kids can learn to swim throughout July and August as there will be two sessions daily.
At the Township Council meeting Tuesday (June 20th) Mayor Mark MacKenzie explained his initial motion on the matter.
Prioritizing who could first enroll did not sit well with Deputy Mayor Lori Hoddinott.
The concept was sidetracked when elected representative found out swimming registration had already opened earlier that day, but Councillor Scott Brum came up with how to fix that.
Swimming lesson registration will be open for McNab-Braeside residents only until the close of business on Tuesday June 27th, and open to all thereafter.
Mayor Mark MacKenzie acknowledges the two-tier registration stems from the failed Joint Use agreement with Arnprior over the Nick Smith Centre Pool, and the municipality didn’t want to put local residents at a double-disadvantage.
All that aside- you can learn to swim at Burnstown Beach this July and August. From now to June 27th, registration is for Township residents only; from June 28th on, it’s open to everyone.
