Horton Township has been able to celebrate friends and family making their community a great place to be for the first time since the pandemic.
That’s the township’s executive assistant, Nikky Dubeau, who tells myFM that they held their Service Awards over the evening on Friday, November 25th.
The night saw a number of staff honoured for their service to the township, including the Fire Department’s Kyle Schroeder, Daryl Eady, and Ray Callier.
The trio recently rang in 10, 15, and 25 years on the job, respectively.
Debeau notes that the Horton Fire Department is always happy to help with community events like Canada Day, the Winter Festival, and their own Haunted Hall on Halloween.
Other staff given special recognition on the night include Rilla St. Michael and Leonard Lacharity for 5 years of service, as well as Amber Hultink for her 10 years with the town.
They also awarded Volunteer of the Year to Debby Johnston for her help bringing public events back after the pandemic.
Dubeau adds that volunteers are vital to keep a close-knit township with a small population like Horton running, and they’re always open to fresh faces pitching in with new ideas to attract visitors.
