Renfrew’s Acting Director of Parks and Recreation says the Ma-te-Way Activity Centre expansion project continues as planned heading into the winter.
Jordan Wall tells myFM that construction will go indoors as walls and windows are now in place.
Having the interior closed off came just in time as Renfrew dealt with its first snowfall on Tuesday. Wall says contractors are focusing on plumbing, excavation and electrical work, as well refrigeration for the second rink and the arena’s exterior walls.
He adds that things are shaping up nicely as the temperatures get colder, as residents can now get an idea of what the end product will look like just by swinging by the construction site.
Wall notes that communication has been key to keeping things on schedule after COVID-19 related issues regarding building materials caused some minor delays earlier in the year. He’s holding regular meetings with the Town Staff and the on-site crews to ensure everything stays on track for their projected opening at the end of March.
One of those meetings is happening soon, and we do expect to hear more from Wall on the timeline and budget for the project.
