Remembrance Day Friday is an important time for our local Legion, as they honour those who fell in the line of duty.
Renfrew Legion Secretary and Treasurer Jessica Thompson gives us a run down on what’s happening Friday for members of Branch 148.
The march from the Legion on the Cenotaph for a brief Remembrance Day Service will start at 11:00am on Friday, November 11th, followed by soup and sandwiches back at the Branch office at 30 Raglan St. South.
Then that evening, the Legion will be hosting a turkey dinner with pie for dessert start with a social hour at 5:00pm. Thompson says they’ve still got tickets which you can buy for $20 each up to the end of Tuesday.
It expects to be a good cap to a busy period for the Legion, as their Poppy campaign is in full swing.
Thompson says they’re overwhelmed by the support they see each year as they raise money for various charitable causes.
The Renfrew Legion Branch 148 is open 8:00 to 4:00 Monday to Wednesday, as well as on Friday. You can pick up tickets for the Remembrance Day Dinner from the office, or from the bar staff in the lounge.
