The Renfrew Fair’s agricultural aspect is one of the largest of all the fairs in Ontario, and Sarah Darraugh’s volunteer work puts her right at the forefront of it all.
A big part of her life since she was a little girl who joined her grandparents on the fairgrounds as they showed off their cattle, Darraugh joined the fair’s beef committee when she moved back to the area as an adult. From there, she quickly moved up to become the Director of the Beef and Steer Committee.
A big supporter of our local agricultural landscape, Sarah sees the Renfrew Fair as a vital part of showing off what goes into feeding our community. It’s also a prime chance to highlight young local farmers and give them the recognition they deserve.
Darraugh is particularly proud of last year rendition of the Renfrew Fair. Despite the chance that COVID-19 restrictions might shut the fair down before it even began, Darraugh and the many other volunteers pulled together to pull what could only be considered a success with their agricultural events.
If you’re interested in helping this year’s fair, Darraugh says there’s still time to get in touch with their General Manager, Judy Dobec. Drop by the Armouries Building at the Fairgrounds to learn more.
