Pretty impressive to see, and equally impressive to hear about.
Ontario Power Generation offered a media tour of the new generating station it is building in Calabogie on Friday.
The idea was cooked up by OPG’s Neal Kelly and MPP John Yakabuski during a chance meeting in Toronto recently- each thought folks in the area would like to see and hear how things are going.
Project Manager Tony Palma says they sourced the best suppliers and combined the components with design efficiencies to boost capacity.
Most of the workforce bringing the project to fruition are area residents- and, at that, an impressive admixture.
Palma says the project, which began with initial brush clearing in 2020, will be finished by the end of this year.
The new facility, designed to last ninety years, replaces the old Calabogie generating station dating from 1917.
