Just under $140,000 will be coming to the Ottawa Valley to support survivors of intimate partner violence and human trafficking.
The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP, Victim Services of Renfrew County and the City of Pembroke were successful in a grant application to support their project called “Reducing Risk and Enhancing Victim Safety through Multi-Sectoral Collaboration and Coordination.”
The program will focus on enhanced, embedded supports to victims/survivors of intimate partner violence and human trafficking and enhanced access to police and justice services they need when they need it.
The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP says police and partnering services will be able to increase safety and reduce barriers to victims/survivors in accessing quality and fulsome police support when reporting a crime of intimate partner violence or of human trafficking through the purchase of mobile technology and equipment.
In addition, this grant will allow for enhanced police training on intimate partner violence and human trafficking and will create the opportunity to host a community conference to build on best practice techniques and strengthen response partnerships to better serve and support those victimized by these heinous crimes.
Grant partners are looking forward to enhanced opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of victims/survivors.
A total of $139,884 has been secured through the Victim Support Grant program. Funding for this initiative has been secured through 2023.
