Town of Renfrew dignitaries gathered outside of the Ma-te-Way Activity Centre on Thursday morning in what felt like the first time in months.
There, they broke ground on the Ma-te-Way Expansion Project.
Mayor Don Eady says the project is significant since it’ll usher in healthy economic activity.
The Ma-Te-Way Expansion project is getting over $11 million in provincial and federal grants and there was fierce competition for the money.
In the end, Renfrew got a sizeable chunk and Renfrew—Nipissing—Pembroke MP, Cheryl Gallant explains why.
The renovation will bring a second ice pad, a new fitness centre and auditorium as well as a First Nations medicine wheel.
