Until further notice, only essential criminal record checks are being processed from the OPP. The Upper Ottawa Valley detachment says criminal record checks can take 6 to 8 weeks and payment can only be made in cash with the exact amount. There is no fee for those who require a criminal record check for essential volunteer purposes but those applicants must supply a letter of confirmation from the agency they are volunteering with. Police can only accept and return criminal records checks on Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 8am and 4pm.
Proper identification is required for criminal record checks. All applicants are required to present two forms of identification, with at least one form of ID bearing the applicants photo, when submitting a criminal record check. Acceptable forms of identification include:
Driver’s license
Birth Certificate
Valid Passport
Outdoors Card
Possession Acquisition License (PAL)
The OPP are not able to accept the following forms of identification for criminal record check purposes:
Social Insurance Number (SIN) card
Health Card
