False Alarms can not only be a time-consuming process for members of a municipal fire department, Renfrew Fire Chief Kevin Welsh says they can also take away from what may be a life-saving situation.
The Chief advocated for a bylaw on the matter at the Town Council meeting Tuesday (December 15th)
The False Alarm bylaw comes with an escalating scale of fines- the maximum charge being 500 dollars after the fourth false alarm, and all subsequent instances in a calendar year.
The Renfrew Fire Chief expects there will be a compliance attitude fostered by the new fee schedule.
