It’s Paramedic Services Week and these front line workers are out in the community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to keep you safe.
Paramedic Chief and Director of Emergency Services for the County of Renfrew, Michael Nolan, says the community has been extremely appreciative of the work paramedics are doing during the global pandemic.
He adds a simple gesture like a wave or a thank you goes a long way.
The Chief Paramedic in Renfrew County says they’ve been working closely with their partners at the local health unit.
Nolan says paramedics are testing people for COVID-19 at home, have setup drive-thru swabbing clinics and help with the Renfrew County Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre for those without access to a family physician.
Nolan says it’s not just COVID-19 related work paramedics are doing during the global pandemic.
He adds staff are able to refer patients to the appropriate healthcare professionals to ensure they get the care they need.
Nolan says County Council has been extremely supportive and has proclaimed this week as paramedic service week in Renfrew County.
The Paramedics Chiefs of Canada have decided the theme for this year is Pandemic: Paramedics on the Front Line to highlight the role these essential workers play on the front lines of the healthcare system.
You can watch a video below created by the Pembroke Regional Hospital to pay tribute to all the Paramedics across the County of Renfrew.
Thank you so much to The Pembroke Regional Hospital for celebrating Paramedic Service Week with our staff! We sure…
