Festival Hall is celebrating 40-years and has some big shows coming up. In an act of honouring Gord Downie and in promoting reconciliation in the Ottawa Valley, Eventure Entertainment and Managing Director at Festival Hall, Rick Wharton, has made a five year $25,000 personal commitment to allow for a permanent Legacy Space at Festival Hall. Legacy Spaces are safe, welcoming places dedicated to providing education and spreading awareness about Indigenous history. The new Legacy Space at Festival Hall is the only one in Eastern Ontario. Wharton says this weekend they have a tribute to a man who brought a lot of attention to Indigenous issues.
Wharton says Festival Hall is a 600 seat theater and so far they’ve hosted over 40 shows this year. Wharton says at the start of next year they’re launching a campaign to replace the seats at Festival Hall.
