t’s a good thing that Arnprior Recreation’s Programming and Events Supervisor Lucas Power was booked to appear at Arnprior Council Monday (May 26th)- things are getting busy.
And it’s about to get even busier.
To help promote three functions in June, the Rec Department is always grateful for sponsor funding, and has received a 1000 dollar grant from Participaction to support organizing Priorpalooza, Concerts in the Park, and the School’s Out Beach Party.
Power says there are eleven weeks of activities this summer- most of them focused around Arnprior’s Jewel, Robert Simpson Park.
It’s indicative of the popularity of the Town’s Summer events that 131 performers submitted applications to be part of the ongoing activities… 28 were successful.
The Recreation Programming and Events supervisor acknowledges 20 local sponsors who contributed 22.5k in funding for the summer activities, in addition to the 11k in grants received to make summer in Arnprior possible.
Priorpalooza kicks things off Saturday June 7th from Noon to 9PM with 8 musical acts and a day-long Cold Bear Brewing Beer Garden. Check Arnprior.ca/Priorpalooza for full details.
Concerts in the Park begin the very next day, with musicians performing every Sunday from 2-4PM- concluding this year with a bonus SALC music band performance.
Movies in the Park is a mobile event. Venues are Robert Simpson Park, June 21st; the Sullivan Rink of Dreams, July 12th; McLean Beach Park, August 9th. This year’s showings will be determined by democratic vote.
And where else does anyone want to spend Canada Day? (which falls on a Tuesday this year).
We’re the Town Where the Rivers Meet- and our on-water events include PaddleFest at McLean Beach Park July 12th; and on the 19th, the Arnprior Dragonboat Festival.
If you’re not part of an organized team, there will be one formed of individuals on the sport, to broaden participation.
Outdoor Theatre- postponed from 2023, makes a visit to the community August 2nd, courtesy of Theatre of Fools.
The Summer’s End Showcase is August 31st, coinciding with the Labour Day Weekend.
Were that not enough, Arnprior Recreation also offers Summer Camps and other weekday activities over the summer vacation for children and students.
