The Canada Border Services Agency is reminding travellers to plan ahead as the Easter long weekend typically brings increased border traffic. In 2024, the CBSA processed over 93.4 million travellers and intercepted more than 34,400 kg of illegal drugs and over 17,200 weapons.
To help ease congestion, the CBSA recommends crossing early in the day and considering alternate ports of entry with shorter wait times. Travellers should have their documents ready, declare all items, and review exemption limits on goods, including any surtaxes on certain U.S. products.
Visitors can bring unwrapped gifts and Easter chocolate for personal use. Those flying into Canada can speed up their entry by using Advance Declaration at participating airports. The CBSA also advises carrying consent letters when travelling with children not under your full legal custody.
