Stone Fence Theatre is taking its hit production, Miss Pringle’s Mini-Skirt, on a five-community tour this spring, bringing the nostalgic musical comedy to audiences across the Ottawa Valley. Written by Johanna Zomers, the play tells the story of a young teacher who arrives in a rural one-room schoolhouse in 1965 and is thrust into a culture clash with the community. The show features music blending Beatles-style pop with traditional country, capturing the essence of the era.
The tour will include performances on Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. in the following locations:
-
April 27: Rankin Culture & Recreation Centre, Rankin
-
May 4: Mackenzie Community School, Deep River
-
May 11: Christian Education Centre, Arnprior
-
May 25: Emond Hall, Maynooth
-
June 1: Almonte Old Town Hall, Almonte
The play, directed and choreographed by Shirley Hill and Sarah Wright, features a talented cast of eight children and youth, alongside five adult performers, including Tabitha Green, Will March, Ambrose Mullin, Ryan Webster, and Sarah Wright. A lively band, made up of Peter Frolander, Will March, Peter Sattelberger, Ish Theilheimer, and Clint Degarie, accompanies the performers with 17 original songs that reflect the cultural clash of the 1960s.
Miss Pringle’s Mini-Skirt brings to life the final days of rural schoolhouses, as the Ottawa Valley saw the rise of the Beatles, the Cold War, and changes in everyday life. The play’s heartwarming and humorous story focuses on the young teacher Miss Pringle, her lively students, and their adventures in the rural setting.
Tickets for the show are available for $45 or $15 for youth and can be purchased online at www.stonefence.ca or by calling 613-401-1497 or toll-free at 1-866-310-1004. Don’t miss the chance to experience this lively, fast-paced musical comedy!
