The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) has issued a Watershed Conditions Statement – Water Safety for the region. This advisory is in effect until Friday, April 18, and applies to all residents in Renfrew County.
Recent warm temperatures have caused snow and lake ice to melt quickly. Combined with forecasted rain and continued warm weather, water levels are expected to rise in rivers, lakes, and streams across the area.
People living in flood-prone locations should monitor conditions closely and take necessary precautions to protect property and ensure safety. High water levels can cause flooding in low-lying areas, especially near the Ottawa River, including Lac Coulonge and Chats Lake.
The ministry is urging residents to stay away from fast-moving water and unstable riverbanks, as they may be dangerous. Forest access roads may also be flooded or washed out, making them unsafe for travel or outdoor recreation.
MNR is actively watching weather patterns and water levels, and more updates will be provided if conditions change.
For more information, residents are advised to follow local news and updates from the Ministry of Natural Resources.
