Nothing excites Save the Grove Again Committee Chair Lacey Smith more than trees, but perhaps second on her list: films about trees.
Call of the Forest: the Forgotten Wisdom of Trees is presented at the O’Brien Theatre in memory of two community naturalists (Howard Ransom and Sloan Waters).
The doc follows the journeys of Diana Beresford-Kroger, an Ottawan with lots of academic letters attached to her name.
Diana narrates and explains the importance of trees to our lives, nature, and the planet.
She shares examples of situations where forests have been successfully restored.
As the film proves, reforestation has infinite possibilities.
Lacey says the film being shown is also a call-to-action.
Tickets are ten dollars for adults, five dollars for children- or at the family price of twenty dollars.
They are available at the door.
