Wednesday night’s freezing rain has thrown a wrench into the plans of schools across the Ottawa Valley.
The Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium says that school buses are cancelled for all areas they observe, as an ongoing mix of freezing rain and ground temperatures below freezing has created icy and slushy conditions on local roads.
Environment Canada expects the forecast to transition to rain as temperatures continue to rise this morning before eventually clearing by noon.
Schools remain open for students able to attend by alternative means.
