Canada’s weather agency is telling the Ottawa Valley to brace for what could be some ugly conditions for local commuters.
A freezing rain warning from Environment Canada is still in effect as snow mixed with ice pellets is expected to begin this afternoon before changing to freezing rain late tonight, leaving behind between 2 to 5 millimetres of ice on local roads and walkways.
Local precipitation will transition to rain as temperatures rise above the freezing mark ahead of tomorrow morning, and officials say that conditions will clear up on Thursday.
Conditions could become icy and slippery in affected areas, and Environment Canada suggests taking extra care while commuting through the region.
