
The 2nd Annual Ottawa Valley Talent Showcase took place on Saturday, March 22, in a vibrant celebration of talent, community spirit, and the thriving arts scene in the Ottawa Valley. Hosted by Chela Breckon, Executive Director of the Renfrew County Community Poverty Action Network (CPAN), the event featured incredible performances by local artists of all ages.
The showcase brought together a diverse group of performers, each sharing their unique talents and creativity. A distinguished panel of judges, including Cameron Montgomery, Rhodina Gardner, Brian Abdallah, and Mirjana Oberfrank, faced the challenging task of evaluating the exceptional acts on display.
Several outstanding performers were recognized during the event. Randa Teschner, known for his one-man band performance, took first place overall with a score of 96%. Evaleigh McDonald and Alexie Belanger, who performed “Mr. Sandman,” earned second place with 94%, sponsored by Eterna Tattoo Studio. Brenna Leamen’s performance of “Clap Your Hands” secured third place with 94%, sponsored by Valley Buns, Bakery & Deli.
The showcase also highlighted specific categories of performance, such as top dance, music, and other artistic achievements. Evaleigh McDonald and Alexie Belanger received the award for Top Overall Dance, while Randa Teschner earned the award for Top Overall Music. Teschner also took home the award for Top Costuming and Appearance with a score of 96%. Khloe Bertrand received the Top Execution and Technique award, while Randa Teschner again won the award for Top Performance and Entertainment Value, scoring 97%. Brenna Leamen was recognized for her creativity and originality with the Top Artistry, Creativity & Originality award.
Dorian Pearce, producer of the Ottawa Valley Talent Showcase, expressed his pride in the community’s creativity. “This year’s showcase was an incredible testament to the passion and creativity in our community. The talent we witnessed was nothing short of inspiring, and I couldn’t be prouder of everyone who took the stage. A huge thank you to our incredible judges, our dedicated sponsors, and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this event happen. The Ottawa Valley is truly full of stars, and tonight they shone brighter than ever.”
The Ottawa Valley Talent Showcase continues to grow as a beloved community tradition, uniting performers, families, and supporters to honor the power of the arts and celebrate local talent.
