The Renfrew Skating Club at the 2022 Glen Cairn Skating competition in Ottawa
The Renfrew Skating Club’s annual year-end ice show is expected to be so nice, you’ll have the chance to see it twice.
Head Coach Katie Skerkowski says the big blowout to their season, titled “Once Upon a Time,” will buck the trends of their usual fare by opting for a shorter, themed performance that will dazzle audiences with two runs in one day on Saturday, April 5th.
Showing off for friends, family, and community members is a celebration of the long hours that go into both the production and the continuing growth of the club, which saw a trio of young skaters make their way to the Ontario Provincial Championships in Stratford earlier this month.
Skerkowski says the transformation the team has undertaken since she first joined eight years ago has been nothing short of phenomenal.
The year-end show is just part of the club’s schedule for April, as they have also been picked to host a special competition through Skate Canada that will serve as a colourful and whimsical encore later in the month.
The Renfrew Skating Club’s “Once Upon a Time” ice show takes over the main rink at the myFM Centre at 1:00 pm and again at 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 5th. Admission is free, but donations supporting the club’s activities are appreciated.
