Marlene Thompson
Flags in Renfrew have started the week at half-mast following the death of former Councillor Marlene Thompson.
In a statement, town staff send their heartfelt condolences to friends, family, and those who had the privilege of knowing Thompson, adding that her dedication and contributions to the community have left a lasting impact in Renfrew.
Fellow councilmember Jeff Scott responded with commiserations of his own, noting that no matter what happened at the table, he and Marlene always left the meeting as good friends.
Outside of her work on council, Thompson was an active social worker in the community and known for writing the original grant application for the Women’s Sexual Assault Centre of Renfrew County back in 1992.
A celebration of life has been scheduled for May 10th.
