With the snow covering Ma-te-Way Park’s Tye Field quickly disappearing, Renfrew’s youth are getting ready to play ball.
Renfrew Minor Baseball President Kasia Maves says they are disappointed that conflicting schedules mean they have to go into their season without the popular spring training sessions that were introduced last year, but registration is on pace for the league to be ready for when games get underway in May.
Maves adds that it’s important for families interested in hitting the field to sign up right away, as late fees will be applied after March 31st.
That being said, she also jokes that the usual batch of late registrations just means they can buy more snacks for their canteen at Ma-te-Way Park, which will reopen after it was broken into and stolen from late last summer.
This is also the perfect chance for the community to get involved, as the league is always looking for people to help in all aspects of the game, both on and off the field.
Renfrew Minor Baseball is open to all skill levels, but Maves is encouraging everyone interested to get in contact with the league, as some age groups are filling up fast and will soon have to go to waiting lists.
Find out more and register right now on the Renfrew Minor Baseball website.
