One person is facing charges following a two-vehicle crash in Arnprior Tuesday that resulted in one of the cars bursting into flames.
Officials from the Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say fortunately there were no serious injuries in the incident.
“On March 11, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Renfrew OPP responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Madawaska Boulevard and Bridge Street,” reads an OPP press release. “Police arrived on scene to find a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. All occupants were out of the vehicles. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to hospital with minor injuries.”
Police closed Madawaska Boulevard in both directions to complete the investigation. Arnprior Fire Department attended the scene and extinguished the flames.
As a result of the investigation, the driver of the burned vehicle, a 26-year-old resident of Arnprior, was charged with:
- Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
- Failure or refusal to comply with breath sample demand
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Pembroke court on April 9.
The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days.
