What has been a wild week of weather in the Ottawa Valley will continue today, according to Canada’s meteorologists.
Fresh off a special weather statement due to heavy rain in the area, Environment Canada has switched over to a winter travel advisory as temperatures dip back below the freezing mark this afternoon.
Rain showers or periods of drizzle are expected to continue this morning before changing to as much as 5 centimetres of snow as temperatures fall in the afternoon, potentially freezing pooled water and wet surfaces on local roads and walkways.
Travel might become hazardous as the weather changes suddenly today, and the weather agency says to be prepared to adjust your driving as conditions change.
