It did not take long for the people looking after school bus services across the region to decide not to risk hitting the roads this morning.
The Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium says all buses are cancelled for today due to the weather, as Environment Canada’s freezing rain warning from late Tuesday night continues into the early morning on Wednesday.
Some areas in the Ottawa Valley could see 1 to 2 millimetres of ice accumulation on local roads early today before temperatures rise above the freezing mark and precipitation changes to rain by mid-morning.
Roads, walkways, and parking lots might be slippery this morning, and the weather agency recommends taking extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
