Commuters across the Ottawa Valley may have a less-than-ideal time during their Wednesday morning travels.
Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for all of Renfrew County, which could see 1 to 2 millimetres of ice accumulating overnight into early Wednesday morning.
The weather agency says the freezing rain will be most prolonged in higher areas and along the Ottawa River, and it could cause surfaces like roads, walkways, and parking lots to become icy and slippery. They advise traffic to exercise extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
In a special weather statement sent out on Tuesday, meteorologists predicted that Wednesday would see between 10 to 15 millimitres of rain as temperatures climb back above the freezing mark by mid-morning, which could cause flooding or pooling water on local roadways.
The Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium says all buses are cancelled this morning due to the weather, although schools remain open.
