Voters across the province are getting ready to cast their ballots in the snap election this Thursday, Feb. 27.
Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke has six candidates vying for the spot:
- Marshall Buchanan, New Democratic Party
- Billy Denault, Progressive Conservative
- Mark Dickson, New Blue Party
- Anna Maria Dolan, Green Party
- Kevin Holm, Ontario Party
- Oliver Jacob, Liberal Party
After first being elected in 2003, Progressive Conservative MPP John Yakabuski is retiring.
Polls are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and voters can cast a ballot even without a voter card – just bring a piece of ID with your name and home address.
The Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke riding sits along the Ottawa River and borders on a western section of the province of Quebec. According to the 2021 census, the 12,385-square-kilometre region has a population of 107,410 people.
In the last provincial election in 2022, Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke had a 46.38 cent voter turnout, slightly higher than the provincial average of 44 per cent.
